Loading: Quest Definitions
Today was a day I almost forgot about the game! I got sucked into Oxygen Not Included again. . . I can't help it! But I did work on the game. And I didn't just accomplish one thing, but two! I started by digging into my quests. I fed the quest definition and the quest data files to Gemini and asked it to look for any discrepancies between them. It actually found a couple of small things that I fixed.
Then I started looking to load the quests in my data manager, and I found some issues in there with the way items were being dealt with. So, I made some changes, to better align terminology throughout the game. Then I fed the items and item definition to the AI to make sure it was good. And then I had it look over my data manager. Much fixing, such wow!
But then it was time to actually get the data loaded, which turned out to be really easy! I just made a couple of small modifications, and then had Gemini take over and build out the function to actually do the work. And strangely, there wasn't any huge problem I had to fight and follow. Things are going pretty well, for now.
But next time, I begin working on the quest manager. And that one is probably going to be tough.
