Worldbuilding: What Is It?

What Do?

Today I jumped into working on the game without any real direction. First thing I did was jump into my quest and localization data to fix a slight oversight. I totally forgot to add the dialogue for one of my quests. But, for now, that's my last quest. There's a lot more to do though, many plans, many plans indeed!

But, this means I need to start working on the polish of the game. Drawing pretty pictures, designing interesting places, writing engaging dialogue, that sort of thing. . . I'm just not feeling very creative right now. I know I will need to build out more functional things for the game, but I need to get to that point first. I don't know what I need until I need it.

Actually, now that I think about it. . . I was thinking about building a wrapper for the translation function. I had this idea of being able to insert the player's name into dialogue and such, but wanted to make doing so easier. The idea is to just use a placeholder inside of my translation files, which will then be automatically replaced with data from a variable somewhere else. Not really in the mood to do that today though.

Maybe that's all I do today, one tiny little thing related to a quest. . .  Nope, actually it turns out I completely missed a few things, like other quests in the chain that weren't triggering and I updated the text for the wrong quest! That's okay though, I just fixed all of that today.  Well, mostly. Seems I still have an issue with my quest completion triggering based on items. But that's tomorrow's problem because I don't feel like dealing with it today.

What's Next?

Tomorrow I fix my quest completion (at least the item triggering part). After that, I'll just keep doing more of the same. . .
