Documentation: Is Everything

I've realized that I cannot rely on Gemini to actually remember anything. No matter what I tell it, when I ask it to repeat something back to me it can never do it. Sure, it has its "Saved Info" but just trying to get it to give me the link to that is impossible. Then there's the lies, telling me it can't do something that it has clearly done in the past.

But that's beside the point! I'm on a tangent here and I shouldn't be. Today, I sat down and began trying to document some things about the future of my game. I thought through the new player progression and how to address the skills and gameplay. In this game, the player will have a "tool" that upgrades through gameplay. As the player progresses they will upgrade the level of their tool and unlock new things they can do. I have now documented the specific order in which these skills are unlocked, no thanks to Gemini.

So far, I've got 9 different skills tied to the player's tool level. I actually just made the decision to add another! Each tool level will unlock in a specific order, based on story progression. Player needs to do a thing, so player must upgrade the tool to be able to do that. Very simple thing. This also allowed me to think, story-wise, about what the player's experience will be, what order the world opens, and all the stuff I have to do to get there.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; this is an overly ambitious project. It is going to take a lot of work to make what I want. And it will take a long time at my current pace. But I'm going to stick with it! I can work on this game from anywhere in the world, and I will. Some days (like today) may not be full of a lot of "work" but every single piece is important.
