Not all progress is code
So, today's progress wasn't a whole lot more than planning. After yesterday's disaster of getting nothing truly accomplished I really wasn't in the headspace to work with any coding, so instead I dug into some conceptual ideas and worked on planning ahead for the future. A few new folders, a couple of new empty scenes, and a bunch of research.
This has left me with a plan for the future and a lot to work on. I originally wanted to build out a simple base for an interactable object, but that led into complicated things with my player character. I had to decide on an approach to deal with multiple interactables, then I started thinking about world interaction (such as walls) and that brought be to raycasting. With that in mind I had to then think about how I'm going to build the world the player walks around.
So now I have a plan in place to address buildings and walls and stuff. And a plan on how I want to deal with players interacting with the world. And how I want the world to react to the player. And it's a lot. But what did I actually do? I added a couple of folders, a couple of (mostly) empty scenes, and that's it.
But I've also got a plan, a distinct idea of how I will do all these things when I come back to work on them. And that's just as important as writing code or building the world itself.
